Gifting Radiance with The Peacock

As evenings grow more golden, our 24k gold Irish Peacock Coin Pendant begins to spread its radiance. Dazzling onlookers as feathers extend into a luminous arc, the Peacock captures the sunlight, seducing and stunning in equal measure.

Radiance

By day, the sunlight illuminates its broad coat like stained glass. While on a clear night, moonlight reflects off deep sapphire and emerald tones of feathers clutched tight. And after the inevitable summer rain showers finally subside, the remaining drops glisten on its sleek velvety jacket. While the Irish summer may change, the Peacock stays radiant.

The Peacock is self-assured, bold, and comfortable in its own skin. Maybe that sounds like someone you know. Maybe that sounds like someone you're becoming.

Origins

Originally from the Indian subcontinent, peacocks were introduced to Ireland during the 18th and 19th centuries, brought over as exotic birds for estate gardens and manor grounds. And while they were technically foreign, they didn’t exactly fade into the background. You’d find them pacing across gravel paths and well-kept lawns, their tail feathers trailing behind like a firework.

The image of the peacock found its way into Irish imagination over a thousand years ago. In the Book of Kells, the extraordinary illuminated manuscript from the 9th century, peacocks are illustrated in vivid, intricate detail. To the monks who created the book, the peacock symbolized eternal life. And those eye-like patterns on the feathers; they were seen as protective, always watching.
